I come from a pretty large family. I am the youngest of 7 kids. I have close to 20 nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews. If we bought Christmas gifts for everyone in the family - well I would be broke! In the past we drew names did a gift exchange, but when my father passed away 15 years ago - we decided to change it up. We did a white elephant gift exchange for years. I don't know where my siblings found and dusted off their items - but each year they came with their less than desirable gift. This year we decided to put a new spin on it. For those that were in town, we drew names to get each other a gift. Instead of spending $30 on a gift, we decided to set the limit at $5 and it had to come from a thrift store. I don't have pictures, but here are some of the less than $5 gifts received:
Ann Taylor Purple Tweed Dress with Calvin Klein Sweater (my Mom received this)
German Beer Sampler Glasses
Wall decor
Board games
J Jill Sweat pants with the $40 tags still attached
Golf shirts
plus much much more!
Everyone was happy and our wallets were happy too. It was a little bit harder to find a gift at the thrift store that your person would like but it was well worth it.
Alright, next year you need to take pictures!Quite a bit of variety. I bet that was fun seeing what everyone found at the thrift stores.
